Fitness Film Review - Rocky

After a hard week's training, there’s no better way to spend your rest day than to sit down and relax with a good movie. This week’s fitness film is the classic 1976 box-office hit that loves; Rocky.

It’s the story of small-time boxer Rocky Balboa and his struggle to make it into the big leagues of heavy weight boxing. Rocky, played by Sylvester Stallone, lives and works in a run-down Italian neighbourhood as a debt collector with a passion for boxing. His life then changes forever when boxing champion Apollo Creed, played by Carl Weathers, visits Philadelphia with hopes to set up an exhibition match between himself and a struggling boxer.

There’s no doubt that watching Rocky will get you pumped. Its motivational story line

and inspirational plot will have you scrambling for your running shoes quicker than you can say ‘eye of the tiger’.

With classic montages of Rocky hitting weights and punching bags will not only help you to believe in yourself, but teaches you what can be accomplished through a little hard work and determination. Having a relatively small budget of $1 million and taking only 28 days to shoot, Rocky is a film that can be enjoyed by all. But the film isn't all about boxing. Acting as a mirror to the human condition, Rocky is about a guy, much like you or me, who’s down on their luck feeling like every day is just another Sunday. Art by Rany Atlan aka TOTAL LOST
