Help me hydrate

Whether you're bulking, training, dieting, slimming or just being healthy, water plays a key part.

We all know how important it is to drink water, but how many of us reach the target daily amount? For men and women the recommended daily amount is two litres, although there is no evidence that scientifically proves we need two litres.

Multiple studies have confirmed that drinking more water can help you lose weight, but there are still people who hesitate to embrace this simple diet tip. Many people complain that it is difficult to remember to drink enough water during the day, and they also dislike the taste. Sugary drinks and soda are addictive, so they choose them over a glass of water.

1. A bottle: One simple way to drink up that water is you get a litre bottle. If you fill this up in the morning with the target of drinking it by lunch (or a time that suits.)

It may sound like rubbish but in practice you'll find that you sip it without realising it and finish it much earlier than expected. It's also a great way to keep track of how close to your target you are.

2. Bed time: Mornings and nights are a great way to drink up. If you keep a pint glass by your bed and actively drink water before you go to sleep and before you wake up you'll improve your metabolism and in theory improve your sleeping habits.

3: Fruit: If you are the sort of person who struggles with the 'dullness' of water, liven it up with a fruit infusion. For a low cost you can purchase a bottle with a built in infuser so you can have lemon, berry and orange water along with any other flavours you fancy.
